I have had my iPhone for a week now and although being highly skeptical at the start I must honestly now say that this has to be the best damn phone I have ever owned and probably will ever own ... not to mention that it is probably one of the best gadgets that I have ever had the privilege to use.
It was with a little bit of hesitation that I finally gave in to the salesman at O2 when he recommended that I rather take the iPhone instead of the Palm Treo. I have always believed in Nokia and Palm Treo, but unfortunately at this point in time they can't hold a candle to the iPhone. This will probably change in the near future and the Google G1 is probably going to give the iPhone a run for its money ... unfortunately it has just been released and is available with T-Mobile ... I wonder if they could sponsor me one.
Anyway back to my iPhone ... it is truly an addictive piece of equipment and I find myself using it for everything. The image below shows my iPhone surfing the Novo Geek website ... yeah I know, I am such a geek.
The only issue I currently have with the iPhone is that I haven't managed to get it to sync its calendar with Mozilla Thunderbird ... but I am sure I will be able to come up with something or make a plan. Anyway, I have a whole bunch of apps running on my iPhone including network monitoring and productivity applications that have come in handy quite a few times over this last week.
Although the iPhone is also an iPod, I don't use it as an iPod (mainly because I already own an 80GB iPod) but also because the 8GB on the iPhone could be used for other things.
The graphics on the iPhone are pretty impressive and the phone seems quite stable. I had to perform a 250MB iPhone update the weekend that I got it ... so I can't really vouch for the previous software on the iPhone.
O2 has offered me a decent package and I have been really impressed with their service. It does kind of suck that only O2 can supply the iPhone, but being impartial really hasn't effected my decision to use them ... the are others out there who don't rate O2 very highly.
The iPhone is well worth it and I will definitely be keeping you all up to date as I use it more.
