Kevin asked me to drop a blog about the Technologies that I plan on using for Dungeon Heart and the reason behind it ... so without further adieu ... here goes. I have been working with Torque related products for quite a number of years now and so it was only naturally that my first choice for a game engine be Torque 3D (or T3D) from Garage Games. This in my opinion is still one of the best game engines out that there is reasonably priced and that gives you the source code for the engine ... and trust me, I have done my fair share of research into the various engines out there. So T3D will be the base engine and it provides us with a myriad of features, which include but are not limited to:
Over above this, I will be using Arcane FX (or AFX) which extends the features of T3D even further. These features are as follows:
All these features added together means that the game will not only be playable but look extremely professional as well ... what I hope will be a great tribute to Dungeon Keeper. Stay tuned for future blogs from me ... and remember ... don't slap the Chickens too hard! |
